Some of my favorite memories around a table have never involved a formal meal.
They are the afternoons when someone puts out a few snacks and suddenly everyone stays longer than planned. The evenings when dinner is still an hour away, but the conversation has already started. The holidays when everyone seems to gather in the kitchen even though there are perfectly good chairs somewhere else.
That is what this piece makes me think about.
I can picture it sitting in the middle of a table filled with all the little things people love to pick at and share. Crackers and cheese. Vegetables and dip. Fruit and something sweet. Or maybe it becomes the dish that comes out every Friday night for whatever your family happens to be craving.
Over time, I hope it becomes one of those pieces you reach for without even thinking about it.
And maybe years from now, someone will remember it not because of what was served in it, but because it was always there for movie nights, birthdays, holidays, unexpected visitors and ordinary evenings when everyone somehow ended up together.
Because the things we keep in our homes have a funny way of becoming part of our memories.
And I think this one is waiting to become part of someone's.
